Our EYFS programmes provide nursery children the opportunity to be active and interactive, and develop co-ordination, control and movement.

Here at KSA, we have a nursery-specific sports programme called ‘Small Steps’, developed through our depth of experience in tailoring sports classes for toddlers and young children. Our Nursery programmes are designed with The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework at their heart. Working within this framework, our sessions support children’s development and learning, in the care of motivated, specialist EYFS sport coaches for children aged 5 and under.

Our programmes are designed to combine basic skills (e.g. numbers, colours, animals and motor skills) with new, fun sports activities to engage children. Children who take part in these courses learn to play independently of their carers and learn to interact with other children in a sporting environment.

Let us show you how your nursery could benefit and employ a company such as KSA to:

  • Improve children’s learning and understanding of Physical Education
  • Improve children’s basic motor skills
  • Genuinely impact young children with specialist sports coaching that will equip them with a multitude of skills for child and adult life.

Our pricing is tailored to each individual nursery or to parents’ needs. We can run programmes which are parent-paid or nursery-paid depending on their circumstances.

We offer free trial sessions for nurseries so you can see first-hand the high standards of our coaching.

Working with young children

Our EYFS programmes are led by four guiding principles, set out by the Department of Education, that shape practice in early years settings:

  • Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
  • Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
  • Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between them and the coaches.
  • Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates.

Lesson planning for the Small Steps programmes, contain four criteria each session must include:

  • Playing and exploring – Children are encouraged to take part in all activities to experience things, and have a go.
  • Active learning – Some activities are designed to be challenging so children have to concentrate, keep on trying if they find it hard, and enjoy the achievements they encounter.
  • Creating and thinking critically – Some activities encourage children to develop their own ideas and strategies into how to complete certain tasks.
  • Develop a positive sense of themselves – All activities are designed to help children develop confidence in their own abilities, whilst also teaching children to have good relationships with those around them, respect, how to manage feelings, and understanding of appropriate behaviour.

This is all done with coaches who are experienced, who build good relationships with young children, and understand their needs in sport.
