Preparing For Camp

Dear Parent,

Hello and thank you for choosing The Kick Start Academy as your childcare provider for this school holiday.

Our team hope to make your child’s experience a memorable one.

The following information will provide you with everything you should wish to know about our sports & activity camps.

Who are The Kick Start Academy?

The Kick Start Academy provides first-class sport and physical activity programmes throughout the Midlands. Our work currently includes schools, local authority organisations, community groups and the NHS, MENCAP and Children’s Centres based in the West Midlands.

Our Sports & Activity Camps was established to provide sports and activity focused childcare during the school holidays. Our aim is to ensure that you and your child experience a service that is fun, affordable, flexible and above all, safe.

How do I book my preferred venue?

Booking is made easy with many ways:

  • ONLINE: by choosing your preferred venue and choosing your activity, days and childcare times required.
  • EMAIL: contact us on info@thekickstartacademy.co.uk. Please send our team the following information: venue, dates and times required, child’s name/age. Our team will assist you with any additional information you require.
  • PHONE: contact us on 0121 748 7977 with the following information: venue, dates and times required, child’s name/age. Our team will assist you with additional information you require.
  • ON THE DAY: You can turn up on the day and book in, however we do strongly advise that you pre-book if you can. Pre-booking will also allow us not only to prepare staffing but is essential should your child have any additional needs – AND pre-booking allows you to take advantage of our discount offers!

How do I pay for my childcare?

We currently have many options to pay for your childcare:

  • Online Booking – using a credit/debit card
  • Credit/debit card payments via phone
  • Cash
  • Cheque (payable to: KSA Camps Ltd)
  • Childcare Vouchers (venue dependent – please check before booking)

Whichever way you book, you will be sent a Welcome Pack and a Camp Consent Form. Please complete our camp consent form and return before camp starts

What is the venue address of my preferred venue?

You can find all the details of your preferred venue on our website.

Where does registration and sign out take place?

Registration for extra-time and all activities starting at 8am (7.30am in some locations) will be located near the main reception/office area. This will also be our signing out point for parents. Please follow sign posts.

It is essential that each child is signed out with a member of our team before you leave the premises – parents have to make themselves known to staff when you arrive to pick up your child (unless stated on our consent form – FOR CHILDREN GOING HOME ALONE ONLY). Please inform the Venue Coordinator if another adult will collect your child or if you are collecting your child before the allocated times.

What happens if I’m late picking up my child?

If you are running a little late do not panic. Simply contact the Venue Coordinator.  A member of our team will inform your child to avoid unnecessary concern.

For every 15 minutes the child remains after the pre-booked collection time, a charge will be incurred as explained online in our Terms and Conditions.

What should my child bring?

We suggest that children dress in comfortable clothing that is appropriate to the weather. On our summer camps in particular, it is important that children bring sun cream and are aware of how to apply it. All children should bring a packed lunch, plenty of snacks and a refillable bottle as water is available on site. We also recommend a few healthy snacks to eat during break times (please do not send food that may contain traces of nuts).  Whilst on site children will not be allowed to swap lunches/food with other children.

All equipment is provided so there is no need to bring anything except a packed lunch, snacks, sun cream and any clothing relevant to that weeks weather conditions.

(Please bring all equipment for the relevant sports. i.e. shin pads, boots for the football academy)

What happens if my child has a medical condition?

If your child has a medical condition it is essential that you record this during your booking and when you arrive on site. At registration you must inform the Venue Coordinator about any medication that will be required for your child and you will also need to complete a short Administering Medication Form.

What happens if my child has an accident?

All accidents (e.g. bumps, grazes and stings) will be dealt with by our team who are all trained first aiders. If your child is involved in an accident they will be given an Accident Report Form to complete, and you will need to sign on collection of your child. If there has been a serious incident or your child has fallen ill, you will be contacted immediately.

What if my child’s behaviour is inappropriate?

The Kick Start Academy aim to encourage and reward positive behaviour and deal with inappropriate behaviour firmly and fairly. We have a Code of Behaviour which will be on display at all times and staff will explain what is expected of the children throughout the day.

We will endeavour to deal with any major concerns as they arise via parent consultation.
